Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains what personal data SquadFinder ("we", "us", operated by Wacsys) collects, why, and what your rights are. It applies to the SquadFinder desktop app and the website squadfinder.net.
1. Data we collect
- Account data — email address, password (stored as a secure hash), email verification status.
- Profile data — username, profile photo (optional), country, languages, games and ranks, playstyle preferences.
- Matchmaking & social data — your "looking for group" posts, swipes, matches, chat messages, ratings you give and receive, online status.
- Voice data — voice chat audio is transmitted in real time via our voice server and is not recorded or stored.
- Payment data — if you buy Premium, payment is handled by Paddle (our merchant of record). We never see or store your card or PayPal details; we only receive confirmation of your subscription status and non-sensitive identifiers.
- Waitlist / newsletter — your email address, if you sign up on our website.
- Technical data — basic logs needed to run and secure the service (e.g. timestamps, error logs). We do not use advertising trackers.
2. Why we process your data (legal bases)
- To provide the Service (contract): account, profiles, matching, chat, voice, Premium.
- To keep the Service safe (legitimate interest): abuse prevention, security logging.
- To send you product updates (consent): only if you signed up; you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations, e.g. tax records for purchases (handled largely by Paddle).
3. Processors & recipients
We use a small number of service providers to run SquadFinder:
- Supabase — database, authentication and realtime infrastructure.
- Cloudflare — content delivery network and image storage (profile photos, app downloads).
- Resend — transactional email (verification codes) and, with your consent, product updates.
- Paddle — merchant of record for Premium payments (they are an independent controller for payment processing; see Paddle's privacy policy).
- Our own voice server (LiveKit software) — real-time voice transmission.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. What other users see
Your username, profile photo, country, languages, games/ranks, PRO badge, rating and online status are visible to other users as part of the matchmaking experience. Chat messages are visible only to you and your match. Your email address is never shown to other users.
5. Retention
- Account and profile data: kept while your account exists; deleted when you delete your account.
- Chat messages: kept while both accounts and the match exist.
- Verification codes: short-lived and automatically expired.
- Waitlist emails: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Belgium: the Data Protection Authority).
7. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, database access is protected with row-level security, and passwords are stored hashed. Payment card data never touches our systems.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 is using SquadFinder, contact us and we will remove the account.
